Healthy & Hearty: The Best of Both Worlds

While known as a local mecca for meat-free folks, Commmunitea's hearty menu of paninis, wraps, sandwiches, baked goods, soups, and salads (and not just any old bowl o' greens—think rainbow-hued veggie-smorgasbord Buddha bowls, piled high) is sure to satisfy vegans, vegetarians and meat-lovers alike.

A peek inside the glass to-go cabinet reveals an Instagram-perfect array of baked goods and raw sweet-treats that don't just taste good, they also pack a welcome nutritional punch. Naturally rich and wholesome ingredients shine through, both in flavour and appearance.

Like meat-free guests, gluten-free foodies can also look forward to a variety of options, both sweet and savoury. GF highlights from the treat-cabinet include lemon squares, butter raisin squares, fudgey brownies, goji balls, coconut macaroons, and berry scones. Vegan-friendly treats include three types of delicious bite-size energy/protein balls (hemp, chocolate goji, and peanut butter), and house-made apple cinnamon rolls, and a mega-popular vegan date muffins.

For foodies without dietary requirements can enjoy all of the above, as well as banana bread, strawberry lemon poppy-seed muffins, ham and cheese croissants, and pesto croissants.

Crunchy, Chewy, Colourful, & Crowd-Pleasing

Among the most popular dishes on the Lunch Menu is The Buddha Bowl, a plant-based feast stacked high with colour, flavour and nutrition—so good in fact, that its praises have been sung across Canada by musicians such as Jill Barber, Dan Mangan, Dala, and more. Other lunch-time highlights include the Mega Bowl, pad thai, salmon wrap, vegan burrito and chipotle chicken and avocado quesadilla. (We recommend trying them all. For science.).

To sip and savour, the Maple Latter has emerged as a firm favourite from the Drinks Menu, along with a variety of goodness-packed fresh smoothies, and a huge selection of carefully selected tea varieties.

With options for every palate and dietary need, a dedicated kids menu, and an atmosphere of that says "happy, healthy and at-home" Communitea Cafe's reputation for great food and good vibes is well deserved. For those in a rush, you can also order online. Health-food hurrah!
